So you want to come the Gili islands to escape reality and the everyday hustle and bustle. You want to kick back and relax with the most movement involving lifting a cocktail from the table to your mouth or turning the page of your book while you’re lying on the beach soaking up the island sun.
Great! You couldn’t be at a more perfect place; The beautiful island paradise trio of Indonesia.
Your rest and relaxation options include:
The most obvious one but often times underrated. When you picture yourself on a tropical island, isn’t the first thought that comes to mind lying on endless white beaches for hours? We recommend coral beach for your beach bronzing session.
If you want to be a more fancy beach whale, whereby the raise of a hand means someone will be there ready to be of service, we recommend going to either Pearl Beach lounge or Le Pirate Beach club for a day. At Pearl Beach lounge you pay about $10 to lounge in their beach lounge on bean bags or beach chairs. The $10 gives you acess to their wifi and a $10 voucher to use towards drinks or food. At Le Pirate Beach Club you can position yourself on one of their beach front chairs while listening to the waves crashing in and the distant sound of their oh-so-sweet summer tunes.
If your idea of complete relaxation includes an expert therapist giving you a head to toe massage, you’re in luck. And imagine getting one practically on the beach with only flowy linen curtains between you and the sound of the ocean. Yes, this is paradise. Most of the spa’s offer a complete range of services from massages, to facials and mani’s and pedi’s. The best part is, it’s so affordable you can probably get one every day.
Breathe in, breathe out. Clear your mind and appreciate your body. Take up a yoga class or two or three. There are a number of yoga places on the island that offer a variety of yoga classes at different times. You can also try yoga on the beach over sunset or if you’re feeling a little more adventurous The Yoga Place also offers stand up paddle boarding yoga in the crystal clear turquise waters of Gili. A newer addition to the yoga family includes Fly High Yoga. Fly High Yoga offers deeper stretches and will quite literally turn your world upside down.
We understand that after a long, exhausting day of doing nothing, you want to end off your day with even more chill. No problem. Hotel Villa Ombak and Laguna Resort offer open air cinemas under the stars right on the beach with popcorn the works. Their movie schedules are usually displayed a day or two ahead outside of the cinema area. Yes, life can be this good.
If you are up to a little more movement but still taking it super easy, why not go for a day of island hopping between the Gili islands. You can release your inner Marco Polo and go exploring the more quiet and under developed Gili Meno or Gili Air while stopping all over to rest and get yourself a much deserved ice cold Bintang.
